Yellow Yellow Sunflower.

Yellow Yellow Sunflower
Freshly bringing us smile
Imbibing your innocence
with curiosity making us
mellow in love

We smile for no reason
because we are happy to see you
we didn't pick you
but everyday you continue to bloom
and we cant help but protect the brightness
of this yellow yellow sunflower

For the fairest one of them all, Abike.

The Unknown

Perhaps death is near
And I do not know
Yet I sense it trickling down
Over and done with
Already I wonder
If its just diminished responsibility of
Mine to live life and enjoy the breath I am still able to take in defiance
But fear  overpowers this feeble attempt
Because the unknown is the death and death is the unknown that no one really wants to know.

KunbiProse: Aso Ebi - Part One

The phone pressed to her ear as she smiles like she has just won the lotto even though she wasn't in it to win it, a million and one things went through her mind, plans swirling around in her head, Ayoka was a bundle of emotions, happy, excited and impatient at her mother for taking so long to pick up the bloody phone, knowing Iya Ayoka she had probably left the phone in the kitchen whilst watching a Nollywood movie in the TV room upstairs and abusing the actresses , discussing (with herself ) why Yoruba movies never paid attention to details like the Ibo produced ones. Personally she didn't think either was better than the other, while the yoruba movies didnt pay attention to detail and production, the Ibo produced films tried so hard to emulate American films  that makes them just as painful to watch.

Ayoka was just was thinking why is this woman not picking up, if it was me now she would have left me a bloody voice-mail till she saw that she never actually pressed call after  she dialled her mother’s number. Feeling like such a dodo, she presses call and her mother picks up before it barely rang

Hello mummy,
Ayokade mi, ba wo ni? I was just about to call iya yinka when your call came in,  i borrowed her 3 of my video cd’s that i brought back from Nigeria and she hasn’t even returned them after two weeks
Ok, you shouldn’t borrow her things anymore was it this borrowing issue that caused the last squabble with you and her, you can ask kola to go and collect them from her doesn’t he play football with her son? Anyway Mommy I called you because I have some Major news o!!!!
Ehn – Omo mi, what has happened? They have made you head of your department in your office you know I have been praying and fasting with olusho and the alfa also said he sees a bright future for you....
Ayoka smiling and shaking her head said Mummy, no – Olashile proposed mummy!!!! I am engaged!!!!!!
AHHHHHHH mo ti shey ori re omo mi ti shey ori re ayoka *singing* Jesun mi sheun sheun olorun mi sheun sheun  – alakori yen ti finally shey fi ade lori omo mi
Hello mummy? Are you there?
*singing continues*  modupe lowo jesun o gbe mi ga – I am so happy, I was going to say that if that boy doesn’t propose or come for your hand by this xmas , I would sit you down and tell you to take your goods to another market
Mummy he was waiting for the right time, he wanted to be able to provide so no-one will sneer at him, alot of his friends are sorted out by their parents, but he wanted to cut his coat according to his size
Anyway coat or no coat, you were getting to a certain age, in fact i had lined up a few of my friends sons just in case, even though i knew you were a career woman
Mummy im not a career woman, i just wanted to get to a certain height professionally and be able to live the life i want instead of scrouging off a man before settling down,
You have always been like that, Anyway, I will call iya bisi so we can start talking about the aso ebi , i saw one French lace on the Bisi Olatilo show recently and it was too sweet.
Ahn ahn iya ayoka its way too early for that, plus i am not sure I want to do aso ebi because of the whole wahala just colour codes
Colour kini? *hiss* My first born will not have aso ebi , i know your a modern woman but you must also pay homage to your tradition plus iya bisi is going to zurich  next week so she can bear us in mind and get samples that is all.
Hmmmm Ok o – i just want you to know that i don’t want a big deal, i want it simple intimate and classy. Mummy I have to go. Shile and I, will come and see you on Sunday so i can show you the ring, I would have sent it to you via bbm but i know you still don’t know how to use that phone properly, just because iya lola has a bbm, my mummy didnt  want to carry last
Ayoka, shut up your mouth, whats my own with iya lola? Is she the only they made BB for? Plus your just jealous I am a yummy mummy, and soon you will make me a yummy granny....
Laughing – Mummy you never cease to amaze me. Anyway I have to go now Im at work, this dragon boss of mine has gone from bad to worse especially now that he knows I am engaged, I don’t know what his problem is?
Don’t mind him... I will put him in my prayers to leave my daughter alone, he will be the one to leave the company for you not the other way round.
Thats a bit extreme, mum did  you see the lodgement I made into your account at the end of last month?
Yes I did, God will bless you with children that will take care of you like you do me.
Amen. Mum i will call you later, Odabo.
Ok.
7 months Later....

So your mother has gone into debt because of the aso ebi she bought for the engagement dinner, traditional engagement and wedding? Ayoka what is all this you know i like to cut my coat according to my size, i don’t want your mother to turn my wedding into a carnival. Listen I think we should .... just answer your phone, its been ringing and distracting you.

Ok, let me see who it is - Hello? Yes this is she? Ok I will be right there...Gasping for air,
Babe, What's wrong?  Please talk to me now? who was it?
Its my mum – shes  was rushed to the hospital ...
Oya lets go now, What hospital? I am driving...  she is going to be fine babe, ehen nothing will make that woman miss your wedding. giving her a kiss on the forehead.

Without Further Ado...................

It is true that what happens in your childhood will affect your latter years. This is becoming more evident with me. I was the kid who got the tamogotchi when everyone had moved on to personal stereos, still wearing aunty-give-cake dresses when my age mates had moved on to pedal pushers and crop tops. By the time I did get the pedal pusher they had moved on to the henna chokers, best friend necklaces ...... I did eventually catch up.... just when the trend was almost at the end of its life cycle..... It is well. I am stronger for it....

Well the reason why i took you on a crash course on growing up in the 90's was because although many are leaving the blogshpere world for various reasons *cough cough* tumblr bloggers.... been there done that mentality, married with kids now.... e.t.c.  I am just starting..... but like a friend once said... slow and steady won the race....

so without further ado i present the first post on my third but first blog I am actually posting on....

P.S

It was as hard as I thought.
